My name is Monique Scott and I founded Groovy in 1991.
I always loved characters as a child; I had an active imagination and art was favourite topic at school. I’d studied fashion design at college and loved learning the design to pattern format then to manufacture; the whole process from start to finish
Once I’d finished College and set up as a Design Studio I realised that without money people tended to just want expensive designs copied but for much cheaper prices. So I had to find something I had a passion for and collected interesting décor pieces for home and so opening a gift shop seemed like a great idea, and Groovy ‘Different by Design’ was born!. Then I needed to stock it and found the NEC gift shows. After some time I started designing giftware and discovered manufacturing in China, I guess the fashion background taught me well working from beginning to end.
We spend a lot of time on originality and want to make our items fun and interesting. The design team spend a lot of time researching new ideas so we can keep developing and introduce something new every year. I get great inspiration from Pinterest. I have an ideas folder and it’s stuffed with interesting things and some are really random but every now and then one gets used for a concept either for a product or marketing. We’ll never run out of ideas.
Our key licenses this year are Harry Potter and Guardians of the Galaxy (funny movie). Wonder Woman was the best Super hero movie for me so far this year. Marvel is strong with Spiderman gaining some pace with the new movie out and Thor and Star Wars will be big at Christmas with new movies out too. 2018 is lining up to be a phenomenal year having just signed a number of new licenses… and new products already in concept
My business is my passion but when I am not found in the office with my two partners in crime, Bob & Mylo, Groovy’s very own live mascots, check out their bio! or with customers, I can be found with my 2nd love in life, my horses.
My name is Anthony James Lewis but everyone knows me as Tony. However, my grown up kids call me T-BAG , Tone or just plain T or Dad if they are after something!

I am really looking forward to being a key member of the Groovy team and growing the business. I particularly enjoy being greeted by my two new four legged friends in the morning namely Milo & Bob. However on my first day Bob bit my trouser leg because I think I hadn’t given him a treat? This is now fine as we both came to an understanding and Bob along with Milo gets a treat first thing, Problem solved!
My Hobbies include Fishing, Bird Watching, Playing Tennis and I’m also a Season ticket holder and a passionate fan of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football club.
I love animals and regularly feed a family of geese, ducks and a Hedgehog and hoglet and even the local fox pays me a nightly visit. I have a black Toy Poodle called Marvin named after Marvin Gaye (that’s what my wife says anyway) whom I adore, he is my lad!

It a pretty unique environment here, where you are dealing with all things from opinions on new artworks or how we want our display stand to look at the Spring Fair, to sea freight rates from China.
Groovy has always been front of the curve when it comes to Licenses, and we have some great new ones for 2018 and more excitingly, we have a lot of new products that are going to be featured in the range, which means that we can attract new customers and interest.
Our support of our customers set us apart from the rest, it’s the same whether you are an independent or a major blue chip company.
My name is Lisa Hagan and I am Merchandising Manager at Groovy UK. I live in the Wirral in a little seaside town called West Kirby with my husband Richard, our 2 boys Ned, 5 and Herbie,2 and our little black cockerpoo called Tillie.
I have been at Groovy since June 2008 and along the way I have experienced the highs and lows of some big licenses such as Playboy, Hello Kitty and WWE. Our current portfolio is full of mainstream, successful brands and over the next few years we are looking to add some very exciting new licenses which we hope to bring into the fold and we believe will reach out to a whole new customer arena.
We have found some recent success now we have ventured back into ladies products – this is no mean feat as in the past few years our licenses have meant that our customer is predominantly male – so I am looking forward to expanding our ladies range in 2018 to include items such as backpacks, wash bags and cosmetic bags. Things like this are what makes working at Groovy so special – we start with a little idea and we build on it and it is rewarding for the team to see the successes reaped form the work put in.

Hi, my name is Sarah Ford, Sales & Merchandising Co-Ordinator for Groovy UK since 2008. I live in a beautiful village in Northamptonshire with my partner Keith and my 2 dogs, Starsky and Lila. I spend a lot of my free time going on walks in the country and most recently, spending time at the East Coast walking on deserted beaches and exploring our great coastlines
When I first started at Groovy we had different licenses and only then sold 1 bathrobe. Wow, how things have changed. It has been great to see how the business trends have changed in both licenses and products. Customers are our bread and butter so it’s great when we get an idea but then think “would this actually sell”, “does this design work?” that’s where we ask our customers, getting their feedback is important to us. Both UK and European customers have continued to grow and it’s great to work with these companies, reviewing what they should buy and simply, but importantly, getting their order delivered to them
This job has definitely grown over the years but it’s great to be part of a small team where you make a difference
I’m Joelle and I’m the Sales & Merchandising Co-Ordinator, at 28 I’m the baby of the Groovy Family.
I’ve been at Groovy for just over 2 years and am the resident ‘go to girl’ for all things Harry Potter (yes I’m a massive Harry Potter Geek!)
As well as getting to talk ‘Superhero’ we have really varied roles and get together to make company decisions, making us a close knit team.
I’m excited for 2018 as we will be showcasing our products at the Spring Fair.

Bob & Mylo
We are the boys, everyone knows we are here and if your name is not down you are not coming in and yes we have the teeth to prove it.. albeit a few less than last year! Our mission at HQ is to relax on the cushions, bark at visitors and ensure no one has anything left in their lunch box. We do tricks for treats, if we like you and we basically run the office, we do what we like, where we like, when we like!
